at Allen Civic Auditorium.
Philharmonic Strings meets Saturdays 4:30-6:00pm
Prelude Strings meets Saturdays 6:15-7:45pm
Placement will be decided through an audition.

All applicants (except returning 2011 Fall Session members) must audition in order to be accepted into the CCYO. Auditions are on May 20th and June 3rd; applicants will be notified of their audition date after submission of the application. There is a $20 audition fee due at the time of the audition.

CCYO is dedicated to offering string players, age 10-18, in the North Texas area, the opportunity to participate in exceptional educational ensembles that will help them grow as musicians and performers, and to support music teachers and programs in our region while enriching the cultural life of the area.

*Fall/Summer Sessions with Prelude and Philharmonic Strings Ensembles:

CCYO’s performing ensembles are open to all string players ages 10 - 18, who have the requisite background and skills necessary to participate at the expected level. Placement of members within one of the ensembles is based on audition and reliant on performance ability, balance of instrumentation, and personal qualifications. All CCYO students must be a member of their school orchestra. Only home-schooled students are exempt from the school orchestra rule. If you would like to apply for membership and are not in private lessons, we are accepting students not in lessons, who pass the audition, and have a strong recommendation from their director or teacher.

*Sight-reading Session in January/February:

CCYO’s performing ensembles are open to string players ages 10 - 18, who have the requisite background and skills necessary to participate at the expected level. Acceptance to the sight-reading session is based on balance of instrumentation and limited to the first 50 applicants.  There are NO auditions for the Sight-Reading Session. All CCYO applicants must be a member of their school orchestra. Only home-schooled students are exempt from the school orchestra rule.
